About Doodhpathri
Doodhpathri means "valley of milk", after the white water running fast over its stream beds. It is about 42 km from Srinagar in Budgam district, and for now it stays quiet — there is no market, no gondola and very little built at all.
That is the appeal. You walk out onto the meadow, cross a stream or two, and sit down. Shepherds bring flocks up here through the summer. Go as a day trip with a packed lunch and be back in Srinagar by evening; there is almost nowhere to stay.
